Dacia’s Strategic Shift: End of the Logan in Europe and Orientation towards New Horizons
Dacia, renowned for its economical cars, is closing the chapter on its famous Logan sedan in Europe to embark on an ambitious adventure with new, more upscale models.
The Dacia automobile brand is gradually moving away from its image as a manufacturer of tight-budget cars. By abandoning the production of its Logan sedan, appreciated for its quality-price ratio, Dacia now wishes to invest in more luxurious and innovative niches. This strategic reorientation marks its desire to conquer new market segments that were previously unexplored.
Historically, the Logan has long been a flagship vehicle in Dacia’s portfolio, particularly in certain Eastern European countries. However, its third opus did not meet with the expected success on a European scale, leaving Spain as the sole representative of the continental West to distribute this model. Even more surprising, major markets such as France and Germany never welcomed this model from the start.
Disappointed sales led to the suspension of orders in Spain two years ago, a stop presented at the time as temporary. A relaunch of the Logan was considered, leaving a glimmer of hope for aficionados of the brand. However, despite a presence maintained in Eastern Europe with a price below €14,000, the Logan disappeared from the Spanish catalog in the summer of 2022, following an update of Dacia’s visual identity.
This prolonged absence leaves room for speculation: will the model make a comeback on the European market? Previous announcements from Dacia mentioned a “temporary closure of the model to order”, instilling a wave of optimism about a potential return. However, what was once seen as a momentary withdrawal has become a permanent cessation. Plans have evolved and Dacia now confirms that the Logan will not find its way back to Europe.
By turning away from the Logan to venture towards more expensive and innovative models, Dacia is writing a new chapter in its history, reinventing itself while continuing to challenge the conventions of the automobile market.
